A little bit
I’m Jamie Grey, a singer/songwriter from a little seaside town in the North East of England called Redcar. I spend a lot of my time in London writing and recording my music but I love home more than anywhere else in the world.
There’s a rather long story about how I got to the point where I’m at now but in short it’s taken me a long time to get here. They say everyone has their time and for me it feels like it’s now. I’ve let distractions get in the way of my career in the past but with some much needed life experience’s and maturity I’m now in a great place where I’m obsessed with my music.
I wish in a way I’d reached this point a lot sooner and I definitely should have, but in another way I kind of don’t because I understand now I needed to go through a lot of things to have the mindset and dedication to my craft that I now have. I keep using the phrase ‘Just getting started’ across my social media. I just started saying it! Even though I’ve been involved in the music industry for 8 years and have been writing music since I was 17 I really feel like at the tender age of 32 now (something I’ve stupidly at times tried to hide from) That I’m seriously just getting started. That sounds wild I know but I’ve ran and hid from all sorts of things and made lots of mistakes in my past that just held me back. I’m done with that!
2021 has already started amazingly and I’m starting to see rewards for the work I’m putting in. My next single ‘water’ comes out on February 12th and I’m buzzing for it! Again in the past I’ve rested on laurels and thought dropping a song was enough! I’m already excited for the next single and the one after that. I won’t go on too much longer but just to say, If you’re on this site then you’ve taken a moment of your time to check me out or are already a fan of mine. That’s something I’m truly grateful for! Keep checking back here because I’m on it and you don’t wanna miss what I’ve got coming next!
My music is firstly honest. I find 9 times out of 10 I can only write it this way! Yes you can make up stories or write from other peoples perspectives but it’s just not usually the way I tend to go about it. I write introspectively usually about my life, love and heartbreak and generally things that mean a lot to me.
I play acoustic guitar and the odd sprinkle of keys so its heavily driven from these instruments but that’s not to say I just wanna stay here or even that I only wanna write this way. I’m developing/changing/growing up (finally) every day.
I think you’ll hear what I’m talking about over the course of the many releases I have planned for 2021. LETS GO
